Barbara Dunin

Barbara Dunin was born in Kraków. She is an artist, designer, and an initiator of cultural and social initiatives. She received her artistic education in Kraków and in France, studying industrial design and visual communication at the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków, the École Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs de Strasbourg, and L’École de Design Nantes Atlantique in Nantes. Alongside her design studies, she pursued an interest in film, studying directing in Poland and France and gaining experience on film sets in Europe and the United States.

For many years, she has been actively engaged in artistic practice as a painter and creator of analogue collages. She is a member of the Association of Polish Visual Artists. Her work has been presented in both solo and group exhibitions, and in 2023 she published an album summarising over two decades of her artistic output. At the same time, she has been involved in charitable initiatives, including organising art auctions whose proceeds were allocated to social and humanitarian causes.

For several years, she worked professionally in the field of restitution and compensation for properties nationalised by the state, which provided her with a solid foundation for working with material heritage and complex ownership processes. Since 2020, she has been connected with the palace and park complex in Głębowice, and in 2023 she founded the Dunin Family Foundation, to which the Głębowice estate has been made available for statutory purposes. Her aim is not only to protect and restore the historical significance of this site, but also to ensure its dignified, sustainable, and living future — grounded in culture, memory, and responsibility for heritage.

Founder

M. Eng. Architect Danuta Dunin

Danuta Dunin is an architect and architectural conservation specialist who has been involved in the protection of architectural and urban heritage for several decades. She graduated from the Faculty of Architecture at the Cracow University of Technology, obtaining the degree of Master of Science in Architecture and Engineering, and subsequently completed a three-year postgraduate programme in the conservation of architectural and urban heritage at the Institute of History of Architecture and Monument Conservation of the same university.

Between 1973 and 1991, she worked at the Chair of Architecture and Monument Conservation at the Cracow University of Technology, collaborating, among others, with Professor Wiktor Zin. During this period, she contributed to adaptive reuse, urban planning, and architectural conservation projects involving historic buildings and spaces, including residential complexes, historic urban ensembles, and elements of small-scale architecture of significant cultural value.

In 1992, she founded her own architectural practice, through which she carried out numerous architectural and conservation projects, including historic townhouses, residential properties, manor and palace complexes, as well as contemporary architectural developments. Her professional work has consistently focused on historic fabric and on seeking solutions that balance heritage protection with the functional requirements of contemporary use.

A particularly important place in her professional career is held by the palace and park complex in Głębowice, with which she has been connected since the 1970s. While still undertaking her postgraduate studies, she prepared a detailed adaptation project for the palace, demonstrating an early and sustained commitment to the site. Her long-term efforts contributed to the return of the Głębowice palace and park complex to the Dunin family, laying the foundation for its continued protection and responsible future development.
